Welcome to Tangakinya Coffee Website
Tangakinya coffee is one of the largest coffee plantations in New
South Wales, Australia. We are located in Federal, a small township
15km inland of Byron Bay (the eastern most point of Australia).
Nine years ago, when we saw the rock strewn, untended fields we
ignored the surface and looked at the rich red volcanic soil. We
visualised a thriving coffee plantation and that is what we have today.
We have fulfilled our aim of producing a 100% Australian grown and
owned, premium quality Arabica coffee, grown in an environmentally
sustainable way. We do not use pesticides or fungicides and we fertilize
using organic fertilizers. Our plants are not irrigated, helping to
conserve precious water resources.
Our state of the art coffee harvester picks the ripe red coffee
cherries, which are then promptly transported to our modern processing
facility where they are processed, dried and then stored at parchment
stage in special climate controlled containers and aged like a good
wine. This system helps to equalise the moisture content of the Arabica
bean resulting in an even roast, and produces the finest Arabica beans
with a complex flavour profile. We roast when the beans are at their
finest, producing a fine vanilla-like aroma, a pleasant mellow taste,
with light-acidity and attractive body and colour which is naturally low
in caffeine content.
Our reputation as producers of fine Australian coffee grows with our
ever expanding customer list.
